To complement the large statement piece, Birkenstock commissioned a series of smaller works to create a cohesive visual experience.

Throughout the store, eight unique miniature pieces are thoughtfully displayed—each meticulously crafted with the help of my X1C 3D printer by Bambu Labs. @bambulab_official

This blend of traditional leather craftsmanship and modern technology adds a dynamic layer of detail to the installation.

“Material Matters” challenged me in countless ways. From exploring new techniques to create depth to mastering the diverse characteristics of leather, patience became a constant theme throughout the process. I frequently had to remind myself that the beginning stages are often rough, making it difficult to envision the final outcome—but pushing through was essential. I’m grateful for those reminders, as they allowed me to witness my hard work come to life.

This piece incorporates a variety of materials, including insulation foam, 3d printed molds, and select leathers from Birkenstock, the very same used in crafting their iconic footwear.
